“I first heard of the MITUP project about 18 months ago in a
meeting with David Mackieson from Swinburne, it seemed like too good an
opportunity to miss. In the coming weeks I put a lot of thought into the
project and how we could utilise the skills Swinburne were offering us.
Eventually I came up with the concept of the efficiency monitoring software and
David thought this to be feasible. From here we began our journey, meeting with
key members of the Swinburne team and staff at New Touch Laser to turn this
thought into reality. Over the recent months things are gathering momentum,
with Swinburne’s help it will allow New Touch Laser to continue to be at the
forefront of our industry.

The Manufacturing Industry Teacher Upskill Project is a development program which provides hands on work experience for TAFE teachers in manufacturing environments.
The Manufacturing Industry Teacher Upskill Project is a practical approach to up-skilling TAFE teachers from within manufacturing workshops and on-site experience. The cost of any teacher release to industry is to be met by the teacher's institute. Students may apply through a Teacher.
TAFE teachers and students can engage with industry through Research and Development projects hosted in a manufacturing workshop.
Through working with TAFE training providers Manufacturing Companies can provide a stronger more relevant input into the development of training by transfer of updated technological skills and technological solutions. In addition Manufacturing companies will be able to access valuable education and training skills and resources in TAFE Institutes.
